I received an iMac G5 17" iSight with X600 GPU. This machine has some Graphic issues. Running OSX 10.5 the screen looks fine, but when starting a game the screen has stripes. Also the bootmenu gives some stripes.

Now is this VRAM or the GPU itself or something else like caps? I would like to make a VRAM test. I know the AHT can do this, but i don't own the right version for this model. Does someone have a download link for this model? Or is there some other software running on PPC to test VRAM?

I found the VRAM modules on eBay for 2.99 each, need four of those.

Apple Service Diagnostic 2.6.3 can easily be found online if you search. That will test the VRAM.

If I remember correctly, TechTool Pro 4 might also test the VRAM. You can find it at Macintosh Garden.

I had to reflow the GPU on a 20” G5 iSight. While they weren't as notorious for bad caps, they did have GPU issues.

Name me one Compact Apple Product with dedicated GPU which not having problems with it :D

So you thing it is the GPU losing a BGA connection. This could be, i saw a picture while gaming running at about 90°C - 194°F

Yes it is. Mine had the same issue, it's been going on for 4 years without an issue after the reflow
