my iMac i think bought at the year 2015. I noticed got knocking sound while in Sleep mode.

While in wake up mode also got knocking sound.

I check the HDD using the OSX disk check , no problem on the HDD.

If the sound's not coming from the speakers, I'd guess it's coming from something with moving parts. The only real moving parts in an iMac with an HDD are the fans and the drive itself. I'd back up all your data ASAP if you haven't already.

My 2014 iMac 5K had a drive problem and I was able to fix it in a few hours with a repair kit from iFixit. It's an annoying process, but possible to do if you have the right parts, tool and instructions on hand.

But I check is not HDD problem , fan?

You have 1 single knocking sound while put on sleep? or you have continuous sounds while in sleep state?

Is " continous than stop " sometimes will have the sound again in sleep mode . I noticed when wake up sometimes also got the knock sound.

I have an imac 2015 27''. When i power it off or put into sleep I heard a click/knock. But it is just a single sound at this right moment, than nothing. It happens 8 times out of 10, so almost every time, but not 100% every time.
I have not any hard drive inside, ssd only.
I don't think it is the fan. I think is something in the power board that cut a power rail......but it is just my opinion.....

I search this " weird " knocking sound at apple support also got people claim. Not sure is it normal

I also have 2015 iMac with ssd drive and knocks are a no-no. That HDD check is eh not so reliable. If it's within your budget and you want to hang onto it longer, take it to a repair shop and get a ssd installed or plug in an external drive SSD or spinner (they are less pricey now) like 5TB and use that disc instead of your spinner which is about to die if it's never been replaced.
