Of the newest iMac, the largest is 27" but in years to come will the iMac become as large as 46"?

I want to get the iMac for gaming but the size of the screen is not large enough to share with others like a big screen TV.

Rather than getting an iMac & a TV do you think apple will come out with their own Big Screen TV size computer?

    I sincerely hope not.

We're talking about a personal computer, here. I don't want to sit a foot and a half away from a 46" screen.

a foot and a half away isn't too far and with doing personal computing you have soo much more real estate to work with.

You can put the iMac in the living room opposite from the couches and it can basically be a TV replacement and have a desk in front with a computer chair and do you personal computing and say there are people over and you want to share a video game. Everyone can sit on the couch and you can stand to the side a bit so everyone can see and play the game for everyone to see.

I really like the idea of it.

I don't understand what is taken away from you if there were bigger sized iMacs.

Of course it would be more expensive than a 27" or 30" but it gives the option to those people who don't want to buy a TV which is for sharing & an iMac which is personal.

It puts both together with one price. Why not?! :D

Because like I said, I don't want to sit that close to a screen that big - a monitor that size for a computer isn't "personal" at all.

If I were inclined to watch TV on my computer, my 24" screen would be plenty big enough when considering my proximity to it.

You have good arguments, but I think there are too few people who like that/have the need for that. Like me. I have a 40inch TV at home which fits my needs in that matter completely. I use it to watch BluRays on my PS3, and (if necessary) i can hook up my MacBook Air.
But for most cases the 27" iMac screen is just perfect with its size.

If for some reason you did require a screen that big, can't you just hook your mac up to your TV temporarily? I used to do that my old laptop (windows) from time to time.
