Hi all

I am having an issue with my iMac running latest OS playing sound through a stereo pair HomePod mini, it connects no problem but no sound plays through them at all, I also tried connecting it to a stereo pair of OG HomePod and the same issue… is this a known issue with M1/current OS does anyone know?

Thanks

And that is which iMac, OS?

What is an "OG HomePod"?

What app are you trying to airplay?

Can you airplay to the HomePods via another device such as an iPhone?
Latest 24 inch iMac running latest version of Monterey, OG Hompod is the original HomePod… app I am trying to AirPlay is the Apple TV app, I can connect no problem with iPhone.

The iMac connects with no issues after I restart the iMac but after a day or so it connects but with no sound.

Glad to see I am not the only one with this issue. My Mini M1 has this exact same issue that you have. Have to restart it about each day or be vigilant and make sure that I select to disconnect from the HomePod when I am done listening to music / video.

No other devices in my house have issues connecting to the HomePod. I hope this gets resolved in a feature update of macOS or HomePod software.

Yeah have researched online and it seems to be very common with the M1 mini, not as many reports with the iMac, but I can imagine less iMacs have been purchased to this point.

So I think it’s typically an M1 issue overall… I am sure Apple will fix it just a case of when… I am hoping the next Monterey update at least sorts it out, I have submitted the bug to apple.

Out of curiosity does disconnecting before closing, for example the TV app, stop it from happening in your experience? As this is something I will have to test out.

You are correct! I will watch a show on the TV App and disconnect shortly after.

The issue will happen to me if I just forget to disconnect my airplay and I let the computer sit for awhile/sleep.

Awesome will try that as a workaround for the time being

Same issue here. Brand new iMac 24 & sound on the homepod mini worked just fine until today. Restarted both devices, everything's up to date, Siri still responds, I can play music from my iphone on the homepod, it's just not working with the iMac anymore. Very frustrating.
