iMac i3 says "printer offline"

Guys

This thing worked for many months. USB connection.

Willing to try ethernet cable but I don't know how to configure an IP address for the printer. Can someone step me through some diagnostics, or through an ethernet setup?

Go to "System Preferences", (via apple symbol on upper left). "Printers and Scanners"- make sure the correct printer is highlighted on the left. If there are 2 choices of the same printer, try the other one.

Okay

I set the printer up by ethernet and it prints but the iMac does not identify it as a Scanner. How can I get it to scan?

Have you tried going to your printers application via finder and playing with the scan utility?

Tried that, again.

"Device Not Connected" with Ethernet, which was printing for me earlier.
