    Hey guys,

I've got this strange problem with the internet on my iMac, previous Gen..

Anyway, sometimes when it boots up, the internet just doesn't work. Its connected via ethernet and for some reason or other it doesn't connect.

A simple restart will fix the problem and then it works fine. I've noticed in the settings when it starts and the problem happens that the DNS box isn't filled in, in the settings.

I've trying to click the box that says "lock to make changes" but the problem still persists..

Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks :)

Turn off all network interfaces and then go to:

    Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

and delete com.apple.airport.preferences.plist and preferences.plist. You will need to enter in your password and then verify that the files have been deleted. Restart computer. If you have the same results, try resetting your PRAM.

If that didn't work, like mine, there is a thread somewhere on here that describes another method, having to do with adding DNS server addresses.
