The answer to your question is NO.I'm not trying to patronize, but . . . do you understand the file structure on your computer?
Your question seems to be: " I have installed my software and I have copied my files into the Documents folder, now how do I open them? "
Am I understanding your question clearly?
If so,
Launch (open, start, run, whatever you want to call it) Excel, probably by single-clicking the icon on the bottom of your screen.
Click 'File' menu from the menu-bar, upper-left hand corner of the excel window.
Choose 'Open'
The new window that pops up will let you choose the file you want to open. Click 'documents' on the left grayish pane. Now, in the right side of the window, you should see a vertical list of files that are in your documents folder. Click the name of the spreadsheet file you want to open, then click OPEN button in the lower right hand corner of the window. The window will go away, and Excel will load and display the spreadsheet file you chose. Don't forget to save it using the FILE menu when you're done.
Good luck!
OK: I finally got one to work, but when I used the same procedure to move the other into Excell,I received a message, that This is not formatted correctly.A drop down message told me how to do it but it came out in a programmers language.I think that this Doc. was created in Microsoft Works.I'm not trying to patronize, but . . . do you understand the file structure on your computer?

Wow: That was kind of a bitter sweet remark. BTW: I am guessing it has been a long time since you first went from Windows to Mac. This is a new learning experience for a 73 yr. old just trying to make life easer.
73 year olds have usernames like 420 benz?
Dope smokin' Mercedes-rollin forum trollin' ... yay YAYEE.
I bought a 1989 6 years ago with 165,000 miles on it and tore it apart and completely rebuilt it. Now,can you solve my problem?

I tried opening it in both.NGThe problem is your question doesn't make much sense. To start, you can't install a spreadsheet, but I'll assume you meant that it's been copied into your document folder.
If you have excel installed then it should be as simple as double clicking the spreadsheet file, it will automatically open it in excel. And it doesn't have to be in your documents folder, it can be anywhere. That's just the default folder for files like that.

Is it actually a .doc file or are you just calling it a doc? Because if it's a .doc you need to use Word and not excel to open it.
I tried opening it in both.NG
Select the file in Finder, click CMD+I to open the Get Info window and expand all sections and make a screenshot and attach it to your next post.
It's an income/per mo. file that is kinda personal.
