No, Chrome was using the bad part of the ram and because of this, it crashed so hard it brought down the entire system.

what gets me mad is it passes all ram test to

memtest86

apple test

remember so that made me wonder

so far apple stock ram no keren panic so keeping fingers crossed think the crucial replacement should be here by monday-tuesday they gave me free next day delivery on them

got the new ram today one difference i noticed was the ram from amazon which was from crucial each stick had 8 chips on each side etc, this one has 4 on each which matches my apple ram.hopefully no kernel panics, while i waited for the rma the apple ram had 0 KERNELS WITHIN THOSE DAYS

Kernel panics are usually nothing to worry about, but since you just switched RAM, try the old ones and see if the kernel panics go away.

Oh great, my response was a bit late .

You don't need to go to this extent to solve your problems. Even if it is passing all the tests I'd try an exchange of the Crucial you purchased if the kernel panics are not occurring with the Crucial removed.

Did you add the Crucial to Apple stock RAM? The DIMMs should be in alternating slots if so with the stock RAM in 1 and 3 and the new RAM in slots 2 and 4 or vice versa.

Nope, I replaced all the RAM - the issue I experienced seemed to occur when you used third party RAM in all 4 DIMM slots.

At the time there was ALOT of people on crucials' forums experience similar issues. One crucial rep told me that they were changing the way they made the DIMMs and I could either get a refund or wait for a replacement using the new stock.

From looking at the OP's final comment, this looks correct. It appears Crucial were initially shipping low density RAM (8 chips per side) and have since switched to high density RAM (4 chips per side).

Hope all is well with the OP's machine :)

Well, it seems like they are definitely replacing all Mac users with high density since we all seem to have gotten it and had no problems with it.

It must be a Crucial thing since, as I mentioned, my 16GB of stock Apple Elpida is low density.

Anyway, I'm really glad to hear you guys have also had good experiences with your replacements. I'm about 6 months along now with no issues. :)

I just wish I had ordered with Apple's RAM to begin with rather than go back and fourth with issues.

I am now at around 9/10 months with no kernel panics. Only issue I have is image retention when the BLC proximity board goes over 57/58 degrees (which only happens when screen brightness is turned up to max).

Apart from that, I am pretty happy with my machine performance is amazing, (only glitches i've had have been with Microsoft office) and screen is ok for what I need.

This is pretty interesting. I was having Kernel panic issues as well with the Crucial RAM. I just sent them back for RMA. They were low density. It will be interesting to see what I get back.
