I'm going to get a owc ssd for my iMac.

    It's a late 2006 so has a sata 1.5 and pata optibay.

Does anyone have any benchmarks of any ssd in both sata and pata ports?

I'm hoping that pata only loses out in top end speed and the latency and everything else should be similar to the sata port.

If it is, then I'll put the ssd into the optibay/pata and a 2tb to replace the stock 250gb.

If the performance is that bad in the optibay, I'll have to replace the 250gb with the ssd and leave the superdrive, then go external for the 2tb. bummer mine is only the 20" which only has fw400 :(

    I got an early 2006 20" iMac....

I've been interested in installing an SSD as well...

My superdrive is already non-functioning so I was thinking in replacing that with the SSD.. I've already replaced the HD with a 1TB a long time ago.

Have you completed this project? If so, what are the results?
