I know it just looks smudgy but those blobs in the lower corners are actually below the display and just noticed it affects both sides. :/ Unfortunately didn't notice this while I still had AppleCare. I wonder what Apple would charge to repair this even though it shouldn't be happening on a relatively new machine. It's the 27 inch variant.

i had the same with my imac it is in fact dust between the lcd and the backlight/polarising layers it is fixable

How do you fix it? I have the exact same problem.

i removed the screen, on the back you can remove the metal plate holding all the layers together its held in with a load of screws then cleaned each layer with just a microfibre cloth no water or cleaning fluids the whole process took around 45 mins to do and the tape to stick the screen back on it pretty cheap on amazon or ebay

So how do you access the innards when its a unibody construction - the glass screen is no longer held in place by magnets and there are no visible screws.
