I have an iMac with the M1 chip, and a pair of AirPods Max first gen.
I’m starting having some trouble with the pairing. I’ve tried watching YouTube, twitch and using Apple Music. But every time there is something wrong and the sound goes away for 1 second and then right back. Not like they are unpairing, it’s just a quick disruption. I’ve tried a different browser than safari, but it also happens when I’m just listening to Apple Music.
There is no problem with my iPhone and AirPods. So I’m thinking the iMac may be the problem? But I don’t know what to do.
I’ve tried reconnecting the AirPods, resetting them to factory settings, I turn of my iMac everyday, complete shutdown.
I don’t know what my next try could be, any suggestions?

If other Bluetooth devices work with iMac without issue, try disconnecting other Bluetooth devices from iMac before connecting APMax to test. You may need a wired keyboard and mouse. Can’t think of any other way to isolate APMax for test.

Does the music pause briefly for a second and then pick up exactly where it left off or doesn’t the sound drop for a sec and return to normal but the song has been continuously playing?

If it’s the former, it may actually be a bug. My HomePods have been doing the former for months now. Sometimes they drop one or two songs over a few hours or sometimes it’s every song it seems.

I have tried everything and narrowed down every problem it could be, still can’t seem to fix it. It’s extremely unlikely the Mac is malfunctioning.

No real answer for you outside of the standard reset the headphones to factory settings. But just wanted to put it out there that this may be a larger scale issue.
