iMac M1 Noise

hey

I just bought iMac M1 8 CPU / 8 GPU with 8 GB Ram.

It's in a quiet office but I hear a very low whistle-like sound although there's no intense work at all!!! Is that sound normal? I hear only the sound if the room is quiet.

I think it should be 100% silent,right?

As far as I'm aware the fan always runs, just at a low speed. It's not completely silent.

yes, I hear it at a low speed but I want to make sure that my iMac has no hardware issues. I even tried to run a diagnosis but it didn't work! Thank you for your reply.

hey @Nermal Just updating you that when I increase the screen brightness, that sound disappear !!! I'm contacting apple support. I found a lot of people has the same issue here:

At idle speed the iMac fans are 7 decibels quiet, that's the noise of falling leaves. 🍃

Some people claim, they can hear a coil whine on every M1 iMac ever build.

I just went to Apple and they replaced it for me with a new one which I feel has small sound too.

But really their support is awesome.

hey, I just want to put an update here. May someone find it useful.

The sound after replacing my iMac still exists but I found a solution to increase your brightness to the maximum then download a brightness app from the app store and use it to control your brightness, not the built-in brightness controller. I think it's working until now fine.
