Apologies if this is in the wrong section. I'm new here and it wasn't clear where exactly to post this, or I missed the hint.

I have an older iMac, from mid-2011. I use it heavily, and have the silver wireless keyboard and mouse that came with it. I believe they are both called Magic Keyboards and Magic Mice.

The keyboard gets heavy use, and the space bar is starting to stick. It's worse around the edges and bottom at the sides. I'm not flush with income right now, so I don't want to spend another $120 on a new keyboard for an old computer that I will hopefully upgrade in a year. But it's kind of annoying.

What can I do to fix it? Any tips would be appreciated.

This is what I'm using.

It is different, and may take some getting used to. Brightness is controlled using the F14/F15 keys, for instance. Probably should bind some other key to use Expose.

28 bucks for a Red Cherry MX keyboard...

It's USB 2.0, and has a hub built in.

Look at key very carefully under high magnification to see if there is visible debris or dried food or drink around the edges and gap.

If it looks clear then next try using a fine haired brush to clean around keys, with the intent of having the bristles go underneath. If you have canned air try then try that too. Don’t put too close as it could rip off key.

If that doesn’t work then remove and clean key assembly. Then reassemble and try again.

If that doesn’t work then replace the entire key assembly.
