Thought I'd share this and see if anyone else has encountered it.
I am in a discussion at Apple's support forums re: my iMac mid-2011 KPing when I connect with Desktop Sharing. It seems to me, after a bit of investigation and testing this morning, that the cause is an external screen being rotated.
