So I was just using my iMac when this happened - snowy/grey screen like when old TVs didn't find station (video below). I quit all open programs and shut down for 10 minutes. Now working again. The second monitor I have attached never showed any problems.

Thoughts? I have a Genius appt at 6:15pm tonight.

Just checked and my Apple Care coverage ended July 2014. My GPU is an AMD Radeon 6770M which does not seem to fall into the recall group.

Were you running Yosemite on your iMac? I've been hesitant to upgrade due to the issues Yosemite was causing with these graphic cards. If you get a quote on the cost of replacing the video card, post back. I have the same setup as you do (thunderbolt SSD) and wonder whether I should be saving up for a graphics card replacement as well.

Hey

I'm on 10.10.1

Thanks for the thread link. I'll try updating to 10.10.2 now and see thought it doesn't sound like much has helped.

Will hold off on the Genius appt...I think. Not sure what good would come of it now.
