imac model M5521 not starting up

My brothers imac with not start up. He just needs to get some files off of it. Any suggestions? 😕: Is is possible to use the hard drive, by installing it on my G4😕

Get a Firewire (6-pin to 6-pin) cable and use Target Disk Mode.

Do what spinnerlys suggested but take a look at my guide to troubleshoot what's wrong and possibly fix it after you've transferred all files
