Can anyone out there help me . I just added a second monitor to my iMac. It's up and running and working great. The question(s) that I have are.

1. Is there a way that I can extend the desktop so that I can have icons or shortcuts to files and folders on both of my monitors?

2. What is the best resolution to use? I added a Samsung B2230 22-Inch Widescreen LCD Monitor

If anyone can give some advise to this I would greatly appreciate this.

In System Preferences --> Displays --> Arrangement uncheck the box Mirror Displays. This will extend the desktop and allow you to show the relative position of the monitors. You can drag the Menu Bar in the illustration to switch which display is the primary display and will have the Menu Bar and Dock.

Always use the native resolution of the monitor, which is 2560x1440 for the iMac display and 1920x1200 for the Samsung.
