After migrating/cloning my new iMac to a new SSD prior to installing internally, I had it externally plugged into a MacBook Pro and booted from it to perform the migration. Now that the SSD is installed in the Late 2015 iMac, it is identified as a MacBook Pro in iCloud when I go to look at all of my devices on my iPhone 7 under iOS 10.3 beta 1. However when logged into my iCloud account on my computer or on Find My iPhone, the iMac correctly shows as "Steve's iMac". Definitely strange.

So now, I have my MacBook Pro and iMac both named MacBook Pro when viewing on one device, even though it properly identifies itself as a 21.5 inch iMac under the computer name and shows as Steve's iMac on other devices on iCloud. How would I go about changing this info?

    Change your computer's name:
    System Preferences/Sharing pane.
And, change the entry in the Computer Name box.

You can name it whatever you like. I often use mythological names, but it's up to you. This computer that I am using at the moment is named "Bobaloo" for some reason that I can't recall at the moment.
(Naming it Steve's iMac would be really boring, but that's just me. Maybe because my name is not Steve. :D )

Have you restarted your iMac since you changed it?

You can also look at your System Information app/Software tab, which among other items, will show your Computer Name.

If everything seems OK, properly entered, etc. then, on your iMac, log out of your Apple ID account, then log back in. That should force the device information to update, and should appear correct next time you look. It's also possible that it might take some time, maybe a few hours for the information to update through the 'cloud.

A reboot didnt help. However, I ended up removing the device from my iCloud via my phones setting menu, then the iMac prompted me to re-add/sign in again. Once i did this, the proper name took effect. Thanks for your help.
