I am in a dilemma. We are rapidly converting from a Windows based family to a Mac OS family. Kids have ipods, wife has ipod and Ipad and I have a 13" MBP. After everything I have read about the seamless networking with apple devices the question is do I buy an iMac, another MBP or network the current equipment

The plan is to convert all of our disk based media into ripped files. Then get ATV or something similar so we can watch movies through Netflix and our converted movies. Currently we are using the Wii (480p) for rented movies.

I use the computer for excel, word and powerpoint along with surfing the web and photo storage. Wife surfs the web and does no serious computing. With young school aged kids who really aren't using computers for school work yet what route would you go.

You could get an imac for the kids to use-least chance of damaging the machine. Keep the MBP for yourself and your wife.
