Because it's practical? Loading paper from the bottom would be tricky and having it flop about when it comes out the top is hardly ideal.

Ink? The iMac Print doesn't use ink. Apple has a proprietary printing head that uses tears from unicorns that will allow you to print up to 10000 sheets of paper. Once the unicorn tears dry up, all you have to do is simply bring the iMac Print to any Genius bar and for only $99, they will replace your iMac Print with a brand new (refurbished) iMac Print for you to take home.

Normally printers print the top of the page first, not the bottom. I'm sure Apple would do it backwards though. 🙂
