If yours is not similar, that's when to ask to Apple, What gives?

Cool. All original third-party announcement material and reviews made reference to 4.2.

I’m not at home this weekend to check mine, but will post on Monday. I got mine in Jan ‘18.

Appreciate the info about HCI/LMP.

Gotta love the armchair experts who quote something they've read as gospel without actually looking at the shipping product.

No doubt it may have been part of the early marketing blurbs or people assumed since, per the 2017 iMac specs: Bluetooth 4.2 wireless technology

Confirmed, mine is same as your, including software - most importantly HCI/LMP.

Still funny how many searches will return 4.2 as part of the specifications for this machine. Not that Apple's website would stay incorrect, but I was starting to think maybe there was a hardware revision somewhere along the way. But since mine is an early build, it's certain all versions have 5.0.

Such blurbs are written by marketing departments—often well in advance of the release. Some companies are better than others in correcting errors. Apple is one of the better and one of the worst at this. I can point to documentation regarding one product that hasn't been true since OS 10.4.
