I have a mid-range 20-inch iMac, and for a while now I've had a second monitor ( a 19-inch, generic Toshiba LCD) running alongside it at 1440x900, producing a nice, crisp picture.

But when 10.5.2 and the Leopard Graphics Update hit, the resolution has been buggy. I turn on the computer, and the Displays drop-down menubar icon says the second monitor is running at 1440x900, but in actual fact, it is 1152x864, resulting in windows being bent out of position, horrible image quality and a vague pin-striping. The only way I can cure this is by switching the monitor off and on until it hits the right resolution.

The problem is not with the monitor as it used to work perfectly until 10.5.2, and it still produces a good picture when connected with my XBox 360, or my Eee PC.

Are there settings on the monitor itself to adjust the settings?

Can you undo the graphics update until they figure it out?

Im having the same problem, I thought it was from the Dynex adapter I bought, but it is infact the imac, and I dont think its a software issue because I connected it to my Macbook with the same connector, and had no pinstriping, and a stunning image quality. Whats the deal Apple?!

Also, I've tried advance calibration and nothing helps, i get bad pin striping and awful color tints.
