iMac Question

is the basic 1.199$ iMac with an added gig of memory a fast machine...I am thinking of getting one in the near future and I want a fast computer that is a mac for under 1,500$

Of course, any of the current machines (sans the mini) are speedy. Adding ram will make it nice and zippy. 😎

Yes, they're fast. Safari is quite snappy on the current iMacs. Don't buy the RAM from Apple.

Because it'll be much much cheaper if you buy it elsewhere and install it yourself. Of course if you don't care about the money...

You can get 4GB third party RAM for what Apple charges for 1GB.

Fast compared with what? I've got one, but with 4gb ram I added. Seems fast enough for me.

I know this thread will get moved soon, but I would say the high end 20 inch iMac is the best value. It has a bigger hard drive, more memory, a faster processor, and a better video card for just $300 more.

regardless of which iMac you get, save unnecessary money and buy refurb 😉

Same quality iMac with same warranty for less.
