    ok because i read that the 2007 imac doesnt support SATA III, is this correct?

    Correct. It won't support SATAIII however all SATAIII drives are backwards compatible and will work fine.

    what do you mean by backwards compatible? sorry for dumb question!

    do you mean the hard drive will support older connections?

    In this case, backwards compatible just means that the hard drive will work for you, but it technically may not transfer the data as fast with the older connection. Don't worry about it.
