I ordered the mid 27" model with the base ram as I know its upgradeable still (but I've never messed about with installing anything on my own)

I'm trying to figure out if they are using the same ram as last years model so I can try and look around what kind to buy, thanks for any info/help guys.

Returning a 2019 refurb I bought 2 weeks ago with i5, 580x and 512GB. Little worried about graphics downgrade for Premiere but hoping the CPU upgrade and T2 will help. all the other combined upgrades feel worth it. Ugh, I never know if I am doing the right thing.

Having just purchased a 2019 model back in July 2019 (3.6 i9, 1tb ssd, v48) so I tested the trade in value of this 3k system, $1180. Oh my. Going to wait to see how the new models fare before swapping and probably sell off the one I have afterward but the trade in number was scary

I went for the i7 (because I prefer base clock speed to the extra cores), 8 GB RAM (upgrading it myself), 2 TB SSD (can always expand further with TB3/USB3) and the Radeon Pro 5700 XT. A nice upgrade from 2017 model with Radeon 580 Pro and 2 TB Fusion (though I'm running off an external SSD at the mo). Delivery 21-25 of August in Norway.

Expecting the "last Intel iMac" to last me quite a few years, as I thoroughly enjoy dual-boot.

You'd easily get $2.5K on eBay as long as you have the original box and its in great condition.

My birthday is next week so I appreciate Apple dropping this great gift! My current 2017 iMac is the 4.2 i7 with 512GB SSD and the Radeon Pro 580. I'm not a creative professional by any means so I can't really justify the extra cost of the i9 over the i7 this year, especially at 400 bucks, plus I have minor concerns about heat. I upgraded the video card which is more important to me for gaming purposes. Bumping the storage to 1TB was also a want since 512 was working out alright, but I would feel better with more breathing room so to speak.

All in all I'm pretty excited. Delivery expected August 19-21.

If the high-end model came with a 1TB SSD standard, I'd have ordered it already. It made me pause long enough to decide to milk another 2 years out of my fully-loaded late 2013 15" MBP (which has a 1TB SSD) and wait for the AS model. But if Amazon puts that configuration on sale, I may still break down...

I almost did the same things back when I ordered my 2011 iMac. Top CPU / GPU and double the RAM myself. Went for the €600 256GB SSD back then, best decision of my life.

Something to finally replace my day-1 maxed-out 5k from back in 2014. Easily the longest-lasting main computer I've ever had and still a good piece of kit, but will be nice to get a decent amount of internal storage. Delivery is a little longer though...

I have a question.
I have ordered the new (and my first) iMac with 8 Gb RAM and so I have ordered 32 Gb RAM and I will installed it myself.
Do I have to installed it in a specific order?
Thanks!

Question for those who ordered before the 4th and were upgraded... Have any of you been able to alter the upgraded mac while on order. I ordered mine on the tax free weekend, 31st, and heard about the new macs. Now that 10Gbe and the Pro 5700 are available, I would like those. According to apple, I would have to cancel the order to make changes. This would lose the $300 in tax savings and add the ~$400 in equipment, meaning a $700 swing for a better video card and a NIC I might never use the capability of.

If you just will be using the 32, I assume it is a 16x2 kit. Swap the 2 fours that will be in the machine with the 2 sixteens in the same slots. If you’re so inclined, pop the 2 fours in the other two slots so you can have a total of 40.

I just ordered the base model. It was the upper limit of my budget. Should be here tomorrow by courier. That cost an extra nine bucks (Monday would have been free).

I bet it’s being couriered from my local Apple Store. It was an option for in store pickup tomorrow, but I’m avoiding indoor stuff beyond 30 seconds to drop off a package.

I am very excited!
