Just set mine up last night and the experience is not all that much different from my old 2008 Mac Pro, I am sad to report. The resolution is great but I wouldn't say it's mind bending since it's crammed into a 27". I have used 4K on a 28" Dell as well as a 39" Seiki so I may be spoiled.

This is my first experience using the Magic Mouse and I love it aside from the fact that it disconnects on me all the time. Searched forums and it seems to be a fitment issue with the batteries.

So far I find myself using the 2560x1440 resolution more than anything else simply because of the small text and my waning eyes. At 3840x2160 it is kind of doable but in browser usage I need to tap the MM to zoom into text to make it serviceable. At 5K it is really, really small. Also when I downloaded the SwitchResX application which you need to enable 5K, I also tried it at 6400x3600 which is ridiculous. That's like 6.5K or something.

So far so good; hasn't heated up on me and is much quieter and cooler than my Mac Pro with the Dell 3008 I had which doubles as a face heater. That thing puts out so much heat in any season other than Winter it makes it unbearable to use.

It runs hot, yes, but I trust Apple's engineers, my 5K is running 24/7 since December, a lot of video/photo editing, games, plex transcode server, music production and other tasks, 0 problems, it works like a charm.

Does it actually run hot to the touch? I remember the old thick imacs being very hot but the thin redesign made them cool to the touch. The Retina and AMD graphics make them hot again?

Mine is only mildly warm after long use near the vent on the back, not even close to the 2011 iMac heats in the right top corner. But I have the base model.
