You're a sad, sad bloke.
Just thought I'd say that.
It actually ended up quite interesting, we touched on many subjects such as viruses (Gateway person insisted Apple's claim of no viruses was false), features (I had to prove to the Gateway person I was looking at a desktop and not a laptop by showing him a link because he didn't believe a $1199 desktop Mac would have a built in camera, 802.11g networking, and Bluetooth included in the base price), and configuration (the Gateway actually came with half the RAM for example): after spending a long time comparing the machines we finally got down to which one was *better* which the Gateway person insisted the Gateway was, and this is sort of how it went:
Me: you're honestly telling me you would buy the more expensive yet slower computer with less features and a bigger case?
Gateway: it's two completely different systems it's like comparing apples and oranges
Me: ok let's pretend there is no OS and all we know are the specs and price of two complete mystery computers which would you buy
Gateway: well then obviously yes the cheaper system
Me: let's even pretend they cost the same which they don't
Gateway: they're two completely different systems
Me: but they do the same stuff only differently
Gateway: well Windows is easier with how everything works, how files are organized etc...
Me: no it's only easier for you because you already know it, all you have to do is spend a little time learning the new system
Gateway: but it's totally different
Me: So you're saying that you'd wouldn't buy the less expensive faster computer with more features and a thinner case that does the same thing only differently simply because you don't want to learn how to use it? That's ridiculous!
Gateway: it's like saying I like Ford and you like Chevy each system is good for each of us
Me: sure if I like Chevy and you like Ford, we should both be able to agree a BMW offered at the same price is the better choice
Gateway: Apples are not like BMWs
Anyway it pretty much wrapped up with this Gateway person still clinging to their Profile 6 ugly thing, but I actually got this person to say they would do some research on the iMac and gave me contact information to pick the conversation back up when this person knows more about it later today. Exciting!
