So as of last night this is my Late 2013 27" iMac. Has anyone seen this particular failure? Wondering if I'm now the owner of a very expensive paper weight.

It looks like it may be the GPU, Apple has a repair program going on, give them a call, your machine may qualify for that

Pretty sure that replacement program is for the early generation imac, 2011/12 if I recall. Taking it in tomorrow so I guess I shall see.

I had a similar issue on my late 2009 imac.

GPU initially failed which was replaced. Worked for around two days and then had the same issue you're experiencing which i'm told was the LVDS cable.

All in cost me around £250 to repair otherwise, like yourself, a big door stopper.

Connect the PC to an external display.

If this issue appears on an external display, it's a GPU issue. Otherwise, it's a display issue.
