Imac screen has vertical lines on it

hi guys can anyone help.
i have an intel based 17" White imac.
it has over the weeks had and increasing number of vertical white lines appearing on the screen.

does any one have any idea of what is causing the problem, and the solution?

Early 2006 17" Core Duo iMacs have known issue with bad Philips LCD panels. Only known cure is to replace the LCD, but the cost is prohibitive.

This is a well known issue. Ask Apple to replace the display.
