I have the regular 5700 (non XT that is) and I've noticed this issue only before shutdown (both on Catalina and now on Big Sur). It doesn't bother me much, but it's concerning to hear that some folks have one side darker / brighter than the other during normal use...
Same thing is happening here!

Had/have same issuu.

To defeat the dark side: Turn True tone on and off again...
But the dark side is trong in this Mac and after a reboot it wil return.

Hi. I've installed macOS Big Sur 11.3.1 (yesterday) after a contact with Apple Support, and the problem continues...

5700xt I have had this problem from the first day, also the white line glitch.

With the 11.3.1 update its gone. But Im kiiiinda sure that I saw it in the first day or two, after the update. Then forgot about the problem. I have now switched to a gray wallpaper on the desktop to more easily see it. No line in several days!
For the first time both lightroom (9.3) and ps is working. Not wanting to update anything soon again. But I'll try the newest lightroom again now with the newest big sur.
There have been some problems with adobe and the gpu/cpu. My 2020, 16gb graphic card got slower than my 2012 with 512mb 🤦‍♀️

Ended up getting apple to swap it out for a iMac Pro in the end after 3 onsite services with upgrade fee, hope the rest of you get it resolved but it seems to be a defect in the 5700 series as it's affecting other operating systems as well like windows and AMD been working on it for two years hopefully Apple will have better luck

Any updates on this? I have the 5700XT and there are occasional shut downs of the computer in sleep. Upon waking the computer, it says it fell asleep and I need to my passcode in to get it to open. Upon opening, the screen is essentially cut in half. Almost that there should be two displays and I'm only getting half of the display. If I shut it down and restart, it goes back to working just fine. However, also noticing the 1/2 of the screen thing on shut down. Just wondering if there has been any luck with Genius Bar Appointments? (swapping out the graphics card??) Thanks so much. Jeff

Same problem here, on an i7 iMac /5500 graphics card) that had been through a Recoverye (erased everything on the drive and installed a new MacOS from interet). It was sent to an authorised Apple repair company called Elcare (here in Norway)

Called the company it was bought from (Elkjøp in Norway), and they told that I will receive the iMac in return, because the service company couldn't find anything wrong with it, and said (quote) "If our technicians doesn't find anything wrong with it, there's nothing wrong with it", and someone else from the same company said that "even if you can document that half the screen has a different colour eg. by making a video recording of the screen from you iPhone, we can't help you if the tech engineers can't reproduce the error". This was on a Mac that was paid $3500+ for, and which is covered by 'right of complaint' + is covered by Apple Care and has an insurance (all bought from the same shop) – all this was paid circa $1180 for on top of the Mac price.

In this case, the problem didn't occur only on restart/startup – it popped up out of nothing and didn't go away until I had restated the Mac. There are other problems with the Mac as well.

Have any of you got a permanent fix for the problem?

Same issue with my iMac 2020, i7, AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT 8 GB, running Big Sur 11.6. Sometimes the dark side goes away after a reboot or something, but I've noticed that if I plug in my secondary display (USB-C to HDMI going to LG 27UL500-W) it always comes back. Is this just because the iMac display panel turns off and turns on again when the display is connected?

Has upgrading to Monterey has solved this for anyone? I can't upgrade yet because software that I require for my job isn't currently compatible with Monterey, but I was hoping that someone who has might be able to share.

FWIW I updated to Monterey a few weeks ago and that appears to have solved the issue for me entirely.
