iMac shutting down

Hey to you all and thank you for reading my tread...
Well, my problem is that my iMac G5 17 inch shuts down every 5 hours, ALONE!!
What's going on??!!

That would not have anything to do with it. I had one of these Rev. A iMac's that were screwed up...it was replaced 3 times before I demanded that they give me a new iMac G5 and I wound up with the Rev. C.

Not sure what the issue is with the computer shutting down. Does it just suddenly lose power? Or does it go through the shut-down procedure? Like, do you see it logging out of OS X and then turning off? More detail would likely get you a better response.

When I come back from school my dad tells my the mac shut down 2 times today, while he was somewhere else...
I don't know, can it be the fct that in Paris it's 0° now? (I live in Paris)

I've used my Rev. B iMac G5 in indoor temperatures that low. <.<

Do you know which revision iMac it is?

That is very strange. I've never heard of a Mac acting this way...hmmm...😕

Yeah, that's not normal. 🙁

Make sure (all of you who have this), that in the energy saver preference pane, under "Schedule," neither box is checked?

Is it plugged in to a power strip?

Plug it straight to a wall. Mine shut off, not down, then I removed it from a power strip and the issue was solved.

Yes...inconsistencies from the source of wall power can also be an explanation. A computer, particularly Macs, can act very dicey if they are plugged into sketchy outlets.... 🙁

Well, now I know that when it sleeps, and I press on the power button, the mac shuts down...
