This update provides important bug fixes and is recommended for 20-inch and 24-inch iMac models with 2.0, 2.4, or 2.8GHz processors.
Well, this is fantastic news considering the iMac (2.4ghz 20") that I ordered yesterday shipped this morning, as opposed to the 2-4 business days the Apple store lists. Have to see how this effects real world game and GPU utilizing applications like Motion, etc.
Surprised they didn't just do this with 10.4.11, but of course not complaining.
You must not have been doing anything related to graphics then.Oh lord.. I hope the freezing problems have been fixed! I didnt find the graphics performance lacking to begin with, but the freezing was making me pretty mad to say the least.
Just installed on my iMac now, so will report back later..
Thanks for the update. The "Aluminum" iMac Update 1.1 installs a later version of the Radeon HD 2400/2600 driver (184.108.40.206), but it is NOT faster. We just reran all our 3D game tests. Doom 3 is 8% faster, Quake 4 is 9% faster, and Prey is 18% faster under the OLD driver (220.127.116.11) compared to the newer driver. This update may include bug fixes but it is obviously NOT the performance optimized version that is supposedly being developed by AMD.
