I am wondering if anybody else out there might have this problem.
I have just bought a NEW iMac 24" and twice already the speaker icon in the menu bar at the top has disappeared and the sound has gone.

I have gone into the preferences and the computer tells me that there is no device. All the alert sounds are grayed, and the speaker sliders to not respond.

What is going on?

Logic board / sound chip problem. Sorry to say that it's probably time to call Apple or visit a local Apple Retailer. Seems it's a hardware fault. 🙁

What The?

I can't believe that.... I have had the machine for two days.
I have the sound back now, I think it be some sort of driver problem.
