Hello,
Since updating my early 2013 iMac 27" to OS X Mavericks whenever I play audio (especially music) through the speakers or headphone port there is a crackling distortion to the sound, this is most apparent on mid to low notes. I believe this to be a software problem rather than a hardware problem as I did not experience these issues in Mountain Lion before updating to Mavericks. Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

My 21.5 inch iMac does that to, but it's barely noticeable. Looks like it should be fixed in a future software update. 10.9.1 or 10.9.2 should do that.

Can i check that this happens just with music and not when the screen brightness is down low?

Mine crackles intermittently with low screen bright - the sound emanates from the bottom left, randomly.

Interesting... I've had some sound crackle during gameplay on some games under Mountain Lion which were resolved with Mavericks... I guess I have the opposite outcome. Weird.
