iMac Speakers

I was wondering about the quality of the speakers on the iMac. When I get an iMac one of the major uses would be as a home stereo so it'll be playing CDs and all the songs in my iTunes library. Are the speakers pretty good for that or should I invest in a set of speakers and possibly a subwoofer to plug into the iMac?

I'd like my music to sound really good but not to the point where I'd have to spend $300 on a set of speakers.

There isn't all that much information on the speakers at apple.ca

I have completely solved the speaker issue by buying a good set of headphones. That way, I hear better and I don't disturb anyone else.
Just a thought kavi...

The speakers are way better than I expected. I actually have a stereo that i used to plug into my old mac for better sound, and I've not bothered at all with this one.

Having said that, I use it for listening to music while I work on it (or in the room) - if you want to really crank the volume up, buy some speakers. Same goes if you really want lots of bass (the imac does well for its size, but it won't match a sub!)
