I have a 5 year old mid 2007 20" iMac with a fairly low speed connection getting only 1 + Mbps downloads (not dialup) and I was wondering if I get the new 2012 27" iMac with 8 gigs of ram, would the computer still be faster in bringing up websites, programs etc. or would it still be restricted to my slower connection speed? In other words would the new computer with the higher specs still be faster than my older iMac and would I notice any difference? Would there be at least some noticeable speed difference on the new computer?
Thanks for a reply 

Internet connection is not limited by CPU or what OS you use.

A 2012 iMac will be as fast as a 2007 iMac loading the websites via a 1 Mbit/s connection.

I have a 2007 iMac with 4 GB of RAM and it loads everything quite fast, if the websites or content are stored on fast servers. I have a 12 Mbit/s connection though.

In all other regards, the 2012 iMac will probably eat the 2007 iMac for booting.
