I've just ordered a mac as I am switching from a PC to Mac regards my photography editing machine. I run a 3 monitor setup on pc, and I understand the latest imac has 2 thunderbolt ports on the rear which can be used to attach 2 other monitors with conversion cables. However I am a little confused regard the thunderbolt ports..

I have seen some Mini-Display thunderbolt to HDMI cables, but are there different types of Thunderbolt connections? or are the ones one the rear mini-display thunderbolt?

Sorry if my question seems very n00bish but last time I used a mac they were multi colour CRT monitors.

Mini DisplayPort uses the Thunderbolt connector, thus any MDP to DVI or HDMI connector will work on a TB port, even when daisy chained.

To learn more about Thunderbolt (TB) and its compatibility with Mini DisplayPort (MDP):

Thank you for the quick reply,

I briefly looked over the thunderbolt page earlier on in the day but never read it properly.

    Thank you for your help.
