Hello,

I'm having a little bit of an issue tranferring files from my older Macbook Pro (late 2011) to my new iMac 21.5 I got about 2 hours ago. I get the transfer going, but it says it will take up to 400+ hours to transfer 500GB of storage. My last computer I transferred only took 6 hours and I transferred 400GB. Please help me ASAP. :(:(

If you are doing it wirelessly then the estimate is probably in the ball park. I'd recommend disconnecting it then instead of doing it wirelessly using your Time Machine back up from your MBP and restore. If you have been backing up the MBP using SuperDuper or CCC, then use that backup. Finally you can always physically connect but you will need a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter cable and a FW cable to connect the two computers.

Wired ethernet is much better for this amount of data. Had a similar problem with my wife's first time machine backup to the server over wifi. Strung a temporary cable to the switch and got it done in less than an hour instead of 12 hours.
