imac turn on chimes but no operating system help please

i have a macbook it turns on chimes but does not boot an operating system other than there being no operating system what else could be wrong please help

You might want to try posting this over in the iMac forum rather than the MacBook forum. I'm sure there are a lot of iMac users that never would see your message in the MacBook area. Wish I could help - and hopefully they can!

Actually, while his title says iMac, his post says MacBook..

Regardless, it doesn't matter what mac he has, troubleshooting would still be the same.

And technically, this should be posted in the Help forum.

What version of mac os were u running? Put the Restore disk in and press D to run diagnostics
