iMac update problem

Im using a 2011 iMac and im on 10.6.8. Every time i try to update and restart it just gets stuck on a blue screen is there anyway to fix this.

Yes, something is certainly odd regarding Software Update. It's already been referred to here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1339658/

In the "old days" if no new updates were available, a message would come up to the effect that the machine was up-to-date. Now, it just freezes 🙁
