Are you surprised??? Of course it will still do it, it's the same model of router, right?

You'd expect it to still do it. It's a problem with the router's design/firmware so they will all do it. I don't know why you bothered getting it changed. You needed to try a completely different model of router.

Well I didn't want to leave anything un done. I thought maybe the one I had was defective in some way, who knows?

But yeah it seems so far that its just the type of router itself.

Gonna pick up an old linksys WRT54G from my buddy that I'm going to use this week to see if it still disconnects.

Even though I've got it hard wired now, I still wanna solve this mystery.

I'd interested how you get on with the Linksys (although ironically, it was a Linksys that I had these exact problems as you some years ago, so they are not my favorite brand!)

Just picked up the linksys, been using it for a few hours now without a problem. I'll probably use it for the rest of the week and see if there's a problem.

The only thing I've noticed is that it's quite slow if I'm streaming a movie to my xbox and browsing the web at the same time on my iPad or iMac but it's really old. One of the purple and black ones linksys used to make, all in the name of research however!

If you get a choice on future routers, can i put in a plug for ASUS. (I don't work for them, sell them or am in any other way affiliated.)

But I've had Linksys, Netgear, D-Link - all sorts of routers and wireless gear over the years but I got an Asus RT-N66U a couple of years back and it has been utterly brilliant. Fantastic wifi range, great performance, bullet-proof reliability (I have NEVER had to reset it, ever). Netgear have always been my preferred before this, but having had the ASUS, I wouldn't go back to Netgear any time soon.

The more recent ASUS models look even better.
