Would you buy an iMac with a larger screen? Like say 32-inch? Wish this was the case with the 5K iMac.

I find 27" displays to be much more versatile than 32". It fits the resolution well and also fits many desks better! Recently I went and buy the Samsung 28" 4K and it surely impresses, especially with price. Again, wouldn't fit the desk well being larger than that. And the desks weren't tiny either. Most important is your setup most people would probably prefer to sit further away if using a 32" display, wouldn't fill the field of vision otherwise.

Ten years ago I got the 30" Cinema display (2560x1600) and it was a great display. I really thought the 27" iMac would be a letdown, but I've found the increased pixel density and resulting increased sharpness has been a great improvement.

Barely use the old 30 any more. It's been relegated to a "distance viewing" role where the lack of sharpness isn't as visible.

I went from a 30" display to the 27" iMac and I'm liking the 3" smaller display much more. It still is big but at least I'm still seeing more of my environment. It also doesn't block as much light making the environment more friendly/comfy.

Yes, I would drop this imac like a stone and buy a 32" or larger imac without a thought. I moved from a 30" 2560x1600 display I've had for seven years to this 27" and hate it being smaller. The resolution does make it worthwhile though.

Yes, I would like to buy an improved 2017 Imac but feel that the 27" 5k screen is too small. I currently use a 32' monitor and would like something bigger. A 36' or 42" 5k iMac would push a lot of the right buttons for many people.

Yes (well, no, because I've only just bought a new iMac, but yes in the hypothetical future).

I've used a 4k 28" screen and while the extra inch is a small difference, it is worthwhile, especially if you set the "looks like" scaled resolution a notch higher than the usual 2560x1440. 4k at 28" is definitely still "retina class" so 5k is still going to be perfectly sharp.

If Apple's industrial design magic is as good as they think it is, they could shrink the bezels on the iMac and fit in a 28-29" panel without significantly increasing the physical size of the case.

The other thing they could do is lose a bit of chin and make the display a bit taller - 16:10 instead of 16:9 - i,e, 5120x3200 - i.e. a proper pixel-doubled version of the late lamented 30" display.

Of course, 5k displays don't seem to be catching on outside of the Mac world so they'd have to get a specially-made panel the result might be a bit expensive...

However, what I'd really, really have liked better than a 27" iMac would have been a Mac Mini with a comparable quad-core CPU and GPU so I could have chosen my own displays. The iMac's 5k screen is a thing of beauty - but 4k is still pretty good, and I'd like to be able to use my main display with other computers from time to time.

I agree with shrink the bezels and go to 30 or 32 inch. The size wouldn't increase much but the screen real estate would and that is what Apple seems to be doing across the board (iPad 10.5 and iPhone 8). It would look very nice.
