So last night I went on a journey to install boot camp on my iMac. After several failed attempts of using boot camp assistant I finally backed up my mac via time machine and did a full wipe. After I had finished reinstalling Leopard I was able to get boot camp assistant to work just fine. I popped in my XP disk and ran the program.
However, while I was waiting for it to install, I was in the other room and heard the familiar chime of my mac booting up. I came in and found the screen black saying in a windows font "Disk error, press any key to restart" I pressed every key on the key board and nothing. I turned it off and tried again. Nothing. I tried to eject the disk, still nothing, I read forums and tried every method in the book, still to no avail. I finally broke down and called tech support in which i was told everything I had already tried.
Finally i jammed a freaking credit card in the slot and got the iMac to puke out the XP disk. Now, it does the same thing still and I still cannot get any keyboard function. I would try target disk mode from another mac, but like I said, no keyboard functionality.
All my files are double backed up so I'm not worried, I just want to get my computer working again. Any suggestions? Also, I'd like to avoid tech support and the genius bar. Warranty is expired and I'm low on cash.
