Sorry if this is in the wrong area or has been asked before but I couldn't find anything to help me.

About a week ago, my iMac started getting slow, application would load slowly and when they did load they would lag at different intervals.

I tried looking on the Internet for solutions such as using activity monitor to see if something was taking up a lot of CPU power, using disc utility to restore, and deleting cache nothing worked.

After shutting it down, the next time I booted up I got the white screen with gray logo. It stays on this screen for about 10 min then restarts and the cycle continues. However one of these times a different screen came up with a bunch of jibberish I didn't understand but one part had something about cache or searching for cache but I'm not too sure about the searching for part so I don't know if I deleted something I shouldn't have.

I tried booting in safe mode and using a combination of keys to start it in something to where I could work bit nothing and I'm not even sure my iMac is recognizing any of the 3 keyboards I tried. I also tried using the restore/install disc that originally comes with it bit that did nothing too

Any help would appreciated.
