I recently bought a 1GB RAM card from apple, I took out the 512KB card from Bank 1, and put in the 1GB. I then put the old card into Bank 0, but the computer wont recognize the memory in bank 0. I can get either card to work in bank 1 but neither in bank 0 . Is there some trick to activate bank 0?

BANK 0/DIMM0:

Size: Empty
Type: Empty
Speed: Empty
Status: Empty

BANK 1/DIMM1:

Size: 1 GB
Type: DDR2 SDRAM
Speed: 667 MHz
Status: OK

There's no trick, it'll typically either work or not. Its a bit of a longshot, but to save yourself the trouble of carrying in your iMac, perform the SMC/PRAM resets on the computer, re-seat whichever RAM module you have in Bank 0, and pray. If it still doesn't recognize it you may have a bad SO-DIMM slot.
