    Hello,

    Total newbie re. iMac.
I have an early 2009 24″ iMac 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo (model “iMac9,1″) with 4Gb RAM. I inserted a Cruzer micro 16GB USB stick to copy some data and then pulled it to cause Finder to warn me that I need to use File>Eject in the future.

I went to Finder and saw the cruzer still listed. I clicked on it and the rotating disk appeared without anything further happening.

After some 10 minutes of waiting, and with Finder unavailable to shut down the computer, I powered down the computer with the power button.

Now the iMac would not turn on. Pressing the power button has no affect whatsoever. Any ideas on what to do will be appreciated !
    Many thanks,
    Newmac50

Unplug it from the wall for a few minutes, plug it back in and try turning it on. The thing you did by not ejecting the flash drive has nothing to do with the iMac not powering up. At the worst, the power supply died, coincidentally.

Many thanks. I've unplugged the iMac. I hope the power supply is still alive (I have work to do).
