Is it necessary to take my iMac off from power (energy) or just turn off the computer?

It is probably safer to unplug it from the outlet in case there is a bad storm while you're gone.

I would unplug it. It is not necessary to do so though.

I'd advise you to unplug it or have a surge just incase there's a storm coming (if there's any that is)...
