So, I've been using image capture to upload photos and videos taken on my iphone, to my rMBP, and I've never had any problems.

But since yesterday, whenever I plug in my iphone (to the usb on MBP), image capture loads the images just fine, but, for some reason.. all the images are just gone after about a minute, and I get a message saying 'no camera or scanner detected'!

I've tried rebooting the iphone and plugging and unplugging the usb cable, but nothing is working.

BTW, I have a mid 2014 rMBP and an iphone 6s plus.

Can anyone please help?

Sounds like a connection problem, rather than an Image Capture problem (intermittent cable or USB port, for example).

Do you have another cable? Have you tried the other USB ports? Have you restarted the Mac?

Open About This Mac > System Report and select USB on the left-hand side. One of the USB ports ought to show the iPhone is connected.

Hi,

I checked under system report and it does show the iphone connected, even though it dissappears in image capture!
I tried both usb ports.

Help!

So, it's more likely software-related. How much free space do you have on the HDD? What version of OS X are you running? You can switch the capture app from Image Capture to iPhoto/Photos/Aperture... see if the problem travels.
