I have a "mid 2012" Retina MBP 15" - it was one of the first ones to be launched.

Its always had some Image Retention but in the early days I put it down to a by-product of the new Retina technology. However its has got a lot worse over recent months - to the point that you can read the text off Word documents you closed over 2 minutes ago!

Clearly the machine is out of warranty - and I don't have AppleCare+ - but the question is - are there any recalls / or product support bulletins that I can rely on if I go to the Apple store??...as I'd really like this to be looked at - as the machine is becoming unusable. I guess I could rely on certain of the UK/European consumer protection laws - but it would be easier if Apple recognised the issue and I could rely anthem to sort it?

Thanks!

No product recalls or anything like that if you had taken it back within warranty they would have replaced the screen for you but you didn't do that.
