Does the IR issues ONLY show up in grey areas, or do you start noticing them in other areas/colors?

I only notice it in semi-dark areas that are pretty close to a single solid shade; blue skies with no clouds, a very plain background with a mid like tone. However if you have a busy background or something very colourful with different shades you don't notice it all. Its knowing that I have IR that bugs me and also knowing people who have had it have had their Macbooks replaced by Apple where Apple hasn't helped me.

I don't have an Apple store close to me. I need to take a ferry boat and travel about 6 hours one way. Then stay in that city for who knows how long for a replacement only hoping my replacement has a Samsung screen.

nothing wrong with mine and its even a LG display

I have a LG display panel, it's quite nice.

When compared side by side with my wife's Samsung, there's hardly any difference.

She's a graphic artist & unaware of this issue, or that Apple uses two suppliers for that matter. Therefore I thought there's no better test than to ask her if she notices a difference between hers or mine.

She's very picky. I asked if she noticed any difference. She said mine had slightly better contrast. Yet not enough to matter.

Interesting indeed.
